Welcome to my world in the lab of the Center for Natural Medicine
09 Jul 2008 Filed under: Lab, Naturopathic Medicine
I was born in small town New Zealand and upon leaving High School I did my registered nurse training qualifying at the end of November 1991. After working in New Zealand for a number of years I moved to live in England where I continued to work as an RN gaining even more experience in many different specialties. During my travels between home & England I started visiting the USA frequently and was fortunate enough to come through Oregon. Naturally I fell in love with the North West and in 2004 I emigrated to the USA and after some time in California & Arizona I finally came to settle in Portland. Up until the end of last year I worked in the Emergency Room (night shift) at Portland Providence Hospital. Before retiring from working in big hospitals last year I had worked in the following specialties; Acute & General Psychiatry, Acute & General Medicine, Elderly Care, Acute & General Surgery, Trauma Orthopedics, Acute Admissions Ward, Urology, HIV, Home/Private Nursing & Emergency Rooms. During my visits to Portland I gained a number of friends in the Natural Medicine community, which increased my desire to be more than part of the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff type of medicine, which is allopathic medicine. Realizing that I could do more to promote health & wellbeing from the model I healthcare I have always worked in I started looking into working in the naturopathic world of medicine. Through the greatest of fortune I came across the wonderful world of the CENTER FOR NATURAL MEDICINE & was blessed to get a job in the lab. Here I work assisting the team by doing blood draws, giving of IV therapies, a full range of EKG testing, O2 therapies, bio-magnetic relief sessions, ultrasound treatments, body compositions, footmaxx orthotic testing, hair analysis testing & many other types of tests that we send out to labs/facilities. I look forward to assisting the many different types of clients whom come to our facility and am excited to part of this organization that helps our clients to achieve their true optimum health.
